Nintendo 64 degrades picture quality on HDTVs by having a bunch of wacky features, including a color wheel that’s a pain to use. However, considering the limitations of at least a stock N64, it is not optimal to convert to HDMI from either composite or S-Video.

Please note N64 systems run a signal of either 240p or 480i depending on the game and and won’t play on most newer HDTVs without adjusting the TV settings. In addition, Why does my N64 say no signal? All you need to do is hook up an HDMI cable from the Super 64 to your TV and you’re away. It feels well-built and generally matches the N64’s aesthetic, with a chunky red Eon logo LED that lights up when the system is switched on.
The Super 64 plugs right into the N64’s video-out port, replacing it with HDMI.
